In this collection, the landscape of Tiflet is not a silent backdrop, but an extension of the self. Through wide-angle ethnography, we examine the ‘Presence’ of Amazigh women within their ancestral territories. By moving away from the claustrophobic, domestic framing often seen in cinematic representations, these images celebrate the physical and symbolic ownership of space. Here, the environment is a witness to labor, belonging, and the enduring resilience of the rural spirit.

Location: Tiflet, Morocco.
Date: 2022.
Subject: Seasonal labor / Presence in ancestral land.
Method: Digital Ethnography.
This series reclaims the rural environment as a site of active lived experience rather than a passive backdrop. The ‘Presence’ documented here emphasizes a deep, functional integration between the individual and her surroundings. By focusing on the woman’s navigation of the landscape, we move beyond the trope of the ‘isolated’ rural figure, instead highlighting her spatial agency and her role as a primary inhabitant and shaper of this territory.
